Occupational Therapist (Full-Time) - Detroit, Michigan
School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT) | Full-Time | Detroit, MI | 2026-2027 School Year
We are seeking a dedicated Occupational Therapist for a full-time school-based opportunity in the Detroit, Michigan area for the upcoming school year.
This position offers the opportunity to work within a supportive special education program serving students with diverse learning and developmental needs. The selected therapist will join an established team of related service providers and have access to onsite support from fellow Occupational Therapists.
Position Details
- Full-time position (35 hours per week)
- Full school year assignment
- Onsite position
- K-12 student population
- Center-based educational program
- Collaborative multidisciplinary team environment
- Additional Occupational Therapists onsite for support and collaboration
Responsibilities
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assessments
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
- Provide direct and consultative occupational therapy services
- Participate in IEP meetings and multidisciplinary team discussions
- Collaborate with teachers, families, and related service providers
- Monitor student progress and maintain required documentation
- Support students in developing functional, sensory, motor, and school participation skills
Student Population
This position will primarily support students with cognitive impairments and other developmental and educational needs. The therapist will work closely with educational teams to help students maximize independence, classroom participation, and functional success throughout the school day.
Qualifications
- Active Michigan Occupational Therapy License
- Previous pediatric or school-based experience preferred
- Experience working with students with special needs is highly valued
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a multidisciplinary team
