School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Martinsburg, West Virginia
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting elementary students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a dynamic school environment. This contract position begins as soon as possible and continues through the end of the school year, offering full-time hours and the chance to make a meaningful impact.
In this role, you’ll serve an elementary caseload of approximately 35 students, providing essential therapeutic support that promotes students’ functional independence and participation in their educational journey. Collaborate closely with supervising occupational therapists, teachers, and families to develop and implement effective treatment plans tailored to each student’s needs.
What we’re seeking:
- Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Prior experience in a school-based or pediatric setting highly preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to work cooperatively within an interdisciplinary team
- Compassionate, student-centered approach
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct occupational therapy services as part of students’ IEPs
- Assisting the supervising Occupational Therapist in assessments, documentation, and ongoing progress notes
- Supporting students in developing fine motor, sensory processing, self-care, and classroom participation skills
- Adapting activities and materials to promote student engagement and independence
- Maintaining accurate records in compliance with school and regulatory standards
- Liaising with educators and families to ensure integrated support
