Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Associate’s degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Valid COTA certification and eligibility for New York licensure
- Previous school-based or pediatric therapy experience preferred, especially with early intervention populations
- Team-oriented mindset and ability to collaborate with teachers, assistants, and specialists
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both children and adults effectively
- Flexibility to adapt with evolving caseloads and school program needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide occupational therapy services to children in both individual and group settings
- Implement treatment plans designed by occupational therapists, focusing on promoting independence and functional skills
- Collaborate with special education teachers, teacher assistants, and other professionals in a classroom environment where each student receives robust support
- Document therapy activities, student progress, and observations according to school and regulatory standards
- Assist in creating a supportive, engaging, and therapeutic environment for young learners
