Occupational Therapist School Setting in Des Plaines, IL

In this contract-based, onsite role, you’ll be part of a dedicated team of eight OTs, providing critical support across middle schools in the district. This position offers an immediate start, with a consistent schedule of 35 hours per week.

You’ll be essential in conducting both initial and re-evaluations to determine eligibility for special education services, offering Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), and delivering Individualized Education Program (IEP) support. Utilize your ability to consult with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring the generalization of skills and continued progress for students.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Illinois Occupational Therapist License required
- Experience in a school-based setting preferred
- Strong background in administering and interpreting assessments for eligibility and re-evaluation
- Familiarity with MTSS, IEP development, and special education eligibility criteria
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills for team-based consultation
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive OT assessments and re-evaluations for students in middle schools
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services according to IEPs and MTSS plans
- Support IEP teams and participate in building-level meetings
- Consult with staff and families to ensure effective implementation of strategies and supports
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with district and state regulations
