Looking for a dynamic full-time opportunity as a school-based Occupational Therapist? This contract position provides a meaningful opportunity on the southwest side of the Houston area, serving students ages 3–21.
As part of a collaborative school therapy team, you’ll hold primary responsibility for approximately 70 students, with 30–40 receiving direct services and the remaining cases requiring consultative support. This role is ideal for OTs who prefer a variety of settings, as assignments will be concentrated within a designated zone that considers your ZIP code. Each day begins and ends at the district office “home base,” with travel between 6–7 nearby schools.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active and valid Occupational Therapist license in Texas required
- Must pass fingerprinting and background checks per state requirements
- Experience in schools or pediatric settings strongly preferred, especially for those with a history as a COTA
- Familiarity with SHARES school health or related software platforms a plus
- Ability to manage documentation in IEPs, excel logs, and electronic systems
- Candidates with former employment at this district, or prior termination from any school district, are not eligible
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide therapy assessments, evaluations, and direct/consultative services
- Attend ARD meetings and contribute to IEP development
- Manage documentation in accordance with school and state expectations
- Maintain effective communication with district staff and families
- Organize schedule to deliver rotating, flexible services to assigned caseload
Schedule is full-time, 37.5 hours weekly, with typical hours between 8:00–4:00. You will not supervise COTAs and will work independently within your assigned area.
