School-Based Occupational Therapist (OT)

Position Overview
Sunbelt Staffing is seeking an Occupational Therapist to support students in a Sacramento-area school district. This contract opportunity is designed for a therapist who enjoys working with children and developing practical strategies that help students participate more successfully in their educational environment. The OT will collaborate with teachers, families, and other school-based professionals to address individual student needs and support progress toward educational goals.
What You'll Do
- Conduct occupational therapy evaluations and assess students' functional needs
- Develop individualized therapy plans that align with student goals and IEPs
- Provide direct occupational therapy services in appropriate school settings
- Address fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and functional skills
- Consult with teachers regarding classroom accommodations and therapeutic strategies
- Recommend adaptive equipment or environmental modifications when appropriate
- Monitor student progress and adjust interventions based on performance data
- Complete evaluations, progress reports, service documentation, and other required records
- Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of pediatric occupational therapy practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to develop practical, student-centered interventions
- Effective organization and time-management abilities
- Comfortable working both independently and as part of a school team
- Flexible approach to supporting students with varying developmental needs
Required Credentials
- Valid California Occupational Therapist license
- NBCOT certification
- Appropriate California school-based credential or eligibility, as applicable
- Ability to satisfy district onboarding and background requirements
Education
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Completion of applicable clinical education and professional credentialing requirements
Experience
- Pediatric occupational therapy experience preferred
- Previous school-based experience is a plus but not required
- Familiarity with IEPs, accommodations, and special education services is beneficial
- Qualified new graduates are encouraged to apply
