Skilled Nursing Facility Occupational Therapist - Tacoma, Washington
An exciting opportunity awaits a dedicated Occupational Therapist ready to make a lasting impact supporting student growth and well-being. Serving approximately 41 students, you’ll split your expertise and compassion between two dynamic school communities, balancing your week across both middle and elementary settings. This contract position begins September 9 and continues through the academic year, with a brief half-day orientation the week before you start to ensure smooth integration into the school teams.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Washington
- Background in school-based OT, healthcare, or home health strongly preferred
- Experience with children and adolescents across diverse developmental and academic levels
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
- Strong organizational and time management skills for efficiently balancing caseloads at two sites
- Excellent communication skills for effective interactions with students, staff, and families
- Energetic, flexible, and solution-oriented approach to supporting student success
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct therapy services—both individual and group sessions—to students as indicated in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Assess, document, and report on students’ functional and academic progress relevant to OT goals
- Work closely with teachers, parents, and other service providers to develop strategies and accommodations that promote student independence and participation in school activities
- Participate in IEP meetings, contributing expertise for collaborative planning
- Maintain accurate records, schedules, and progress notes according to school and legal requirements
- Travel between two school sites (three days at one, two at the other) as part of your regular weekly schedule
