School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) - Escondido, California
If you’re a dedicated Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) seeking a meaningful, long-term opportunity, this contract role near Escondido, CA may be the perfect fit. This full-time position (37.5 to 40 hours per week) covers the entire 26/27 school year and serves a diverse student population in a district-wide capacity. You'll work closely with two experienced Occupational Therapists, providing essential support to help students excel and reach their fullest potential throughout the year. For those with schedule preferences, part-time hours will also be considered.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active COTA License issued by the state of California
- Previous experience in a school setting or with pediatric populations is preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner effectively with OTs, teachers, and staff
- Adaptability and organizational skills to manage a dynamic caseload
- Passion for helping students achieve greater independence in their educational environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct therapy interventions under the supervision of Occupational Therapists
- Assist in developing and carrying out individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Maintain detailed records and progress notes for student sessions
- Support the implementation of adaptive strategies and equipment for classroom and extracurricular activities
- Participate in team meetings and contribute insights for student growth and well-being
