School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Santa Ana, California
Step into a dynamic role supporting students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in an educational environment near Santa Ana, CA! This contract opportunity runs from late November through early June, with the possibility to start sooner for valuable shadowing experience. You’ll work part-time, approximately 25 hours per week, collaborating closely with students and school personnel across assigned campuses.
Your work will focus on addressing the unique needs of a diverse student population in a school setting, fostering success and independence through targeted interventions. The ideal candidate will bring prior experience working in schools and a passion for making a positive impact in students’ daily lives.
Qualifications:
- Active California COTA license (required)
- Demonstrated experience as a COTA within a school setting
- Ability to effectively collaborate with occupational therapists, educators, families, and students
- Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills
- Enthusiastic, compassionate, and adaptable demeanor
What You’ll Do:
- Support the implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and therapy goals under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist
- Provide direct treatment to students, focusing on fine motor skills, sensory-motor skills, and classroom participation activities
- Assist in maintaining records and progress reports in compliance with school/district policies
- Participate in meetings and communicate regularly with teachers, staff, and parents
- Engage students from a range of age groups and developmental abilities
