Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students in a school-based setting in Seattle, WA. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional to help students develop the functional, fine motor, sensory processing, and daily living skills they need to succeed in the classroom and school environment.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, collaborating with school staff, and helping students achieve their individualized educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Implement occupational therapy interventions under the supervision and direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT).
- Support students in developing fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, and functional daily living skills.
- Assist with implementing students’ Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals.
- Document student progress and maintain accurate treatment records.
- Collaborate with occupational therapists, teachers, special education staff, and families as appropriate.
- Help students participate more independently in classroom activities and school routines.
- Follow district policies, student safety procedures, and applicable professional standards.
Qualifications
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current Washington State occupational therapy assistant credential or eligibility to obtain the required credential before starting.
- NBCOT certification preferred or required as applicable to state credentialing.
- Pediatric or school-based experience preferred.
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse developmental and educational needs.
Assignment Details
- Location: Seattle, WA
- Start: As soon as possible
- End Date: End of the current school year
- Schedule: School-day hours, to be confirmed
- Setting: K–12 school environment, with specific student assignments to be determined
