Step into a crucial role as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) serving students in a dynamic school-based environment. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to work closely with a team of experienced Occupational Therapists (OTs) across multiple campuses within the district. You will play an essential part in delivering occupational therapy services to students, supporting OTs with high caseloads, and helping foster positive educational outcomes.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Active COTA license in the state of Kansas
- Prior experience or strong interest in working within a school-based setting
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively as part of a dynamic therapy team
- Capable of flexibility and multi-tasking across different sites weekly
- Strong documentation, organizational, and communication abilities
- Knowledge of pediatric therapy approaches in the context of educational goals a plus
Responsibilities:
- Travel between campuses each week as an itinerant COTA
- Support 2-3 school-based OTs by conducting therapy sessions and implementing treatment plans
- Assist in evaluating students’ needs and contribute to the development of individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Provide intervention services in group and individual settings as directed by supervising OTs
- Maintain accurate records and contribute timely progress notes
- Communicate with teachers, staff, and families while upholding confidentiality and positive relationships
