Desired Experience and Qualifications:
- Current certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Valid state license (or ability to obtain one)
- Previous experience in a school setting preferred, but not required
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic about student progress
What You'll Do:
- Support implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) under the direction of an occupational therapist
- Assist students in developing fine motor, sensory processing, and self-care skills
- Adapt activities and materials to individual student needs to promote participation and independence
- Document student progress accurately and communicate observations to the therapy team and school staff
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to help integrate therapy goals into classroom activities
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to a positive and supportive atmosphere
