An opening exists for a certified occupational therapy assistant (COTA) to partner with various schools in the Port St. Lucie area, servicing a diverse population ranging from preschoolers to high school seniors. As an on-site professional, you’ll collaborate closely with educators and therapy teams to help students reach key developmental milestones.
Qualifications:
- Active Florida Department of Health OTA license required
- Previous school-based COTA experience is preferred
- Comfortable working across multiple locations (3-5 schools assigned, sites specified upon placement)
- Ability to work with PreK through 12th grade students
- Must complete district credentialing, including fingerprints (those previously in the AHCA Clearinghouse may be eligible for transfer)
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out occupational therapy interventions according to individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Support OTs in assessments and documentation, tracking student progress and adjusting strategies when needed
- Communicate therapy goals and student support strategies to teachers and families
- Adapt activities and environments to promote student independence across ages and abilities
- Remain flexible while navigating different school settings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
This contract role offers a steady schedule of 35 hours per week, running from start date through early June 2027. Each day promises rewarding interactions as you make a tangible difference in school communities throughout the Port St. Lucie area.
