Step into a rewarding role supporting students across the Port Saint Lucie area as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA). This contract position offers the opportunity to make an impact in a school-based setting, working with learners from PreK through 12th grade. You’ll serve multiple schools (exact locations to be finalized), collaborating daily with educators, families, and other professionals to maximize each child’s potential.
What we’re looking for:
- Active Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant license through the Florida Department of Health (OTA)
- Previous experience in school settings strongly preferred
- Ability to support a diverse caseload, spanning PreK to high school students
- Adept at implementing therapy plans under the direction of an OTR/L
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
- Flexibility to travel between 3-5 assigned schools within the district
- Completion of district-required fingerprinting (prior clearance through AHCA Clearinghouse advantageous)
- Commitment to the entire contract term: ASAP start through June 1, 2027
Primary responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect occupational therapy support to students under the supervision of the district OTR
- Help implement individualized education plans (IEPs), monitor student progress, and document results thoroughly
- Assist in developing activities that foster motor, sensory, and self-care skills in the classroom environment
- Educate and collaborate with staff and parents regarding strategies and accommodations
- Maintain accurate records while adhering to all district, state, and federal guidelines
This is a full-time (35 hours/week), on-site position traveling between campuses in the Port Saint Lucie area, with variety and opportunities to make a lasting difference each day.
