Support student growth and learning as a school-based Occupational Therapist in a vibrant elementary environment. This contract position offers the chance to positively impact the lives of young learners by delivering essential OT services that enhance student participation and success. Serving a caseload of approximately 25 students, you will focus primarily on elementary-age children, tailoring interventions to support diverse needs. The role is part-time, spanning 2.5 days each week, and aligns with the elementary school day.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active Occupational Therapist license in Michigan required
- Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting highly preferred
- Knowledge of IEP processes and special education documentation
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work with teachers, staff, and families
- Ability to manage and prioritize a varied student caseload independently
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students referred for Occupational Therapy, identifying functional needs related to educational performance
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on student goals within IEPs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to adapt activities and environments for student success
- Provide direct therapy as well as consultative services to staff and caregivers
- Maintain thorough and timely documentation, progress reports, and participation in IEP meetings
- Promote student safety and well-being using evidence-based practices
