What you’ll need to succeed:
- Valid and active Michigan Occupational Therapist license
- Previous experience or comfort working with children in K-12 educational settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to partner with teachers, parents, and other school staff
- Adaptability and creative problem-solving abilities to address student needs
Primary responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services to students, both individually and in small groups, according to Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Conduct assessments and develop treatment plans tailored to support students' academic participation and daily school functioning
- Collaborate closely with educators, families, and interdisciplinary teams to implement strategies that cultivate students’ independence and success
- Maintain thorough progress documentation and participate in IEP meetings as a valued team member
- Educate and provide resources to school staff and families on strategies to enhance motor skills, organization, and self-care abilities
