To excel in this role, you should bring:
- A valid Illinois Occupational Therapy license (IL OT License required)
- Previous experience in school settings, preferably with both general education and special instruction (SIP) populations
- Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring, and interdisciplinary collaboration
- Strong communication skills to liaise gracefully with students, parents, and educational staff
- Flexibility, compassion, and a proactive approach to student care
- Compliance with any additional state or district requirements relevant to OT services in schools
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering direct occupational therapy services to meet students’ individualized needs
- Conducting assessments and contributing to IEPs with insights and recommendations
- Tracking and reporting on student progress and maintaining documentation compliant with state and district standards
- Partnering with teachers and other service providers to incorporate therapy strategies across classroom activities
- Engaging families in the support process and providing resources for home use
