Step into an engaging school-based role supporting diverse learners! This full-time contract opportunity calls for a skilled Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to deliver services within a collaborative educational environment. You’ll serve students ages 3-21 across 6 to 7 schools—these will be carefully placed within a single zone, making your daily commute more manageable. The assignment runs from August 11, 2026, through May 26, 2027.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas OT or COTA licensure required
- Experience in school-based or pediatric settings preferred
- Demonstrated ability to manage a varied caseload and deliver both consultative and direct services
- Strong communication skills for working collaboratively with educational teams and attending ARD/IEP meetings
- Ability to navigate school documentation platforms such as SHARES and maintain detailed therapy logs in Excel
- Must complete district fingerprinting requirements (unless already on file)
- Former district employees are ineligible
Responsibilities:
- Assess and provide occupational therapy services to assigned students (ages 3-21)
- Serve a primarily consult-based caseload with approximately 30-40 students receiving direct care on flexible schedules (from weekly up to every six weeks)
- Travel within a consistent zone of 6-7 schools, assigned with consideration to your ZIP code
- Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and coordinate with educational staff and families
- Maintain accurate documentation in district-required software
- Adapt services to meet varying student needs; lead OTs will operate independently without COTA support
