Occupational Therapist School Setting in Tacoma, WA
Make a difference in the lives of students by supporting their growth and success as a school-based Occupational Therapist. Two full-time contract positions are available for motivated, experienced professionals to provide direct and consultative services across elementary to high school settings. Located near Tacoma, Washington, this role serves a diverse caseload, splitting time across 3-4 school buildings each week.
Your responsibilities will include delivering an average of 950 direct service minutes per week, along with time allocated for indirect services such as consultations, documentation, and collaboration with faculty and families. You’ll play a vital role in helping students develop or regain skills for classroom participation and overall well-being, working closely with educators and support staff.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current Occupational Therapy license in Washington state (required)
- Proven experience working in school-based OT settings
- Comfortable managing a caseload ranging from elementary to high school age groups
- Able to effectively organize time between 3-4 school buildings
- Strong communication and collaborative skills to partner with staff, parents, and students
- Knowledge of IEP processes, evaluation, and documentation standards
- Energetic, flexible, and passionate about fostering student independence
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group OT services as outlined in student IEPs or 504 plans
- Conduct evaluations and develop intervention plans
- Document progress and prepare required reports
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across buildings
- Offer strategies and training to teachers and families
