Step into a rewarding part-time contract opportunity as a skilled Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, supporting students throughout the academic year. This role covers locations in both Valparaiso and Portage, serving a diverse caseload that will be determined closer to the start date. Providing essential therapeutic services for students within the school environment, you’ll have a direct impact on their participation, independence, and success.
Your schedule will span 14 hours across two flexible weekdays, working from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), allowing you to balance your professional passion with personal commitments. The full school year contract runs from August 11, 2026, to June 11, 2027.
What we're seeking:
- Valid licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Previous school-based OT/COTA experience preferred
- Understanding of IEPs, educational therapy goals, and progress documentation
- Strong communication skills to collaborate with teachers, staff, students, and families
- Adaptable to a rotating caseload and the dynamic needs of a school setting
- Commitment to fostering school participation and enhancing student outcomes
Key responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy services and interventions within educational programs
- Conduct assessments and contribute to IEP meetings as required
- Document therapy sessions, progress, and recommendations in accordance with school and state protocols
- Educate and collaborate with school staff and families regarding student needs and support strategies
- Travel between assigned locations as needed
