Make a meaningful difference supporting K-12 students as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in a dynamic school environment. In this full-time role, you’ll play a vital part in helping children achieve their educational and developmental goals, working collaboratively with an experienced Occupational Therapist who provides guidance virtually.
Key Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Previous experience in a school-based or pediatric setting preferred
- Understanding of K-12 developmental and academic needs
- Ability to follow and implement treatment plans under the direction of a licensed OT (virtually)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with staff, students, and families
- Comfort with technology for documentation and virtual supervision
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct occupational therapy services to K-12 students, assisting them in meeting functional and academic goals within their individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Implement activities and strategies as outlined by the supervising Occupational Therapist
- Assist with assessments as directed and record observations and student progress
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of student sessions and participation
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to create supportive classroom environments
- Support accommodations and modifications in accordance with each student’s unique needs
