Required Qualifications:
- Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program
- Current national certification as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
- Active or eligible COTA licensure in New Mexico
- Previous experience or exposure working in a school-based or pediatric setting is highly valued
- Solid communication skills to interact with students, teachers, and families
- Ability to follow treatment plans designed by supervising Occupational Therapists
- Strong organizational and documentation abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out individualized and group occupational therapy interventions under the direction and supervision of the Occupational Therapist
- Assist students in developing or improving functional skills necessary for educational performance, social participation, and independence
- Help track and document progress; maintain detailed records in accordance with school and district requirements
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and support staff to adapt activities and environments that support student participation
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide input as requested
- Maintain confidentiality and promote a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all students
