Make a lasting impact as an Occupational Therapy Assistant by supporting students across multiple schools on the southwest side of the Houston metro area. This is a full-time, on-site contract position for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year, offering the chance to serve a diverse caseload of children and young adults (ages 3-21). You'll play a crucial role in helping students access their education by working closely with an Occupational Therapist and school teams.
Requirements & Desired Background:
- Active Texas COTA License required
- Must have substantial school-based or pediatric experience
- Experience conducting evaluations and participating in ARD (Admission, Review, and Dismissal) meetings strongly preferred
- Capable of managing caseloads within a collaborative, dynamic environment
- Comfortable with documentation and use of school-based health/IEP software (SHARES, Onward, and Excel log maintenance)
- Willingness to commute between 6-7 schools (within a designated area based on your ZIP code)
- Must not be a former employee of the district
- Fingerprint/background clearance required (may be expedited if already on record)
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist OT with a caseload of approximately 70 students, with 30-40 receiving direct services
- Rotate direct services, with consultation-only cases making up a significant portion of the overall caseload
- Perform age-appropriate evaluations and maintain detailed documentation for IEPs
- Build collaborative relationships with campus teams and families
- Maintain a consistent full-time schedule (typically 8:00-4:00, some sites may start at 7:30)
