Qualifications & Experience:
- Active New Mexico occupational therapist license required
- Previous school-based OT experience strongly preferred
- Comfortable working with children and adolescents across elementary, middle, and high school levels
- Solid understanding of IEP processes, assessments, and therapeutic interventions
- Strong communication skills—able to collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and fellow professionals
- Ability to adapt to diverse student needs and modify strategies for optimal outcomes
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct assessments to identify students' strengths and needs related to fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional daily activities
- Develop and implement individualized intervention plans tailored to support students' participation in school routines and classroom activities
- Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, contributing OT insights and recommendations to IEP teams
- Provide direct therapy sessions individually or in small groups, using evidence-based practices
- Maintain thorough documentation to ensure compliance with educational and state requirements
- Educate and collaborate with staff and families on strategies to generalize OT objectives in daily routines
