This contract role is based onsite, serving a dedicated caseload of around 36–40 students in low-incidence classrooms. You’ll play a vital part in meeting the individual needs of students with life skills requirements and autism, and collaborate closely with educational staff to create a positive impact in the school community.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Occupational Therapy license for the state of Illinois
- Experience or strong interest in school-based occupational therapy
- Understanding of sensory needs, adaptive equipment, and strategies for working with low-incidence populations (life skills, autism)
- Ability to adapt interventions to various educational and developmental levels
- Commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration and effective communication
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative OT services to students in low-incidence classes (life skills, autism), grades K–12
- Evaluate student needs, develop treatment plans, and monitor progress
- Work closely with teachers, aides, and other therapists to integrate OT goals into classroom routines
- Maintain compliance with all documentation, IEPs, and state/district requirements
- Support families and educational staff with strategies to foster independence and participation across school settings
