School-Based Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) | Discovery Bay, California
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students across five schools, working district-wide with learners from preschool through 8th grade. As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you'll be instrumental in providing crucial occupational therapy services to a caseload of approximately 65 students, collaborating closely with an Occupational Therapist from another agency for supervision.
This position offers a unique chance to make a direct impact on students’ abilities to participate fully in their academic and daily activities. You’ll enjoy a full-time schedule during the academic year, starting July 30, 2026, and continuing through May 28, 2027, with the possibility to extend if needed for Extended School Year (ESY) services.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Active COTA certification, meeting state licensing requirements
- Experience supporting children in a school-based setting, preferred
- Strong understanding of occupational therapy models and best practices for a diverse age range
- Comfortable working collaboratively with supervising OTs and school staff
- Capability to adapt to various environments across the district, serving multiple schools
- Organizational skills for managing time, documentation, and a shared caseload
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions per IEP goals, under OT supervision
- Observe, assess, and document student progress
- Support the development and implementation of classroom strategies and adaptative tools
- Communicate effectively with teachers, staff, and families regarding student needs and progress
- Assist in screenings and evaluations as needed throughout the academic year
- Maintain accurate records and comply with district and regulatory requirements
