Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) in Elgin, IL

As a key member of the district’s Itinerant Special Education team, you will split your time among multiple school sites, collaborating with educators and related service providers. Schedules align with each assigned school’s daily hours, averaging 35-37.5 hours per week. This role is on-site only, with no remote or virtual options available.
Key Qualifications:
- Current Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) license through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation
- Active Educator License from the Illinois State Board of Education
- Experience in school-based practice (strongly preferred)
- Ability to work across elementary, middle, and high school environments, adapting to varied student needs
- Must complete required background checks and fingerprinting promptly
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OT, in accordance with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Support students’ participation in academic and daily life tasks, promoting independence and growth
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary school teams to develop and implement strategies for student success
- Maintain thorough documentation as required by school and state guidelines
- Travel between multiple campuses within the district to serve assigned caseloads
