Key Skills and Qualifications:
- Valid Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in Minnesota
- Previous experience in school settings preferred, but passionate new graduates are encouraged to apply
- Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and special education processes
- Strong interpersonal communication skills for working with students, families, and school personnel
- Ability to adapt activities and interventions to meet diverse student needs
- Reliable, organized, and eager to work in a team-focused atmosphere
Responsibilities:
- Implement occupational therapy interventions under the supervision of an OT, targeting fine motor skills, sensory processing, and functional daily skills
- Support assessment processes and document student progress toward IEP goals
- Collaborate with teachers and staff to modify classroom activities and ensure inclusion
- Educate students and caregivers about strategies for success in academic and social settings
- Maintain accurate records and participate actively in team meetings
