School Occupational Therapist | Kingston, New York
Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting autistic students ages 3–12 with Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy services in a collaborative school-based environment near Kingston, NY. This contract role offers a structured schedule and a highly supportive setting where both OTs and COTAs are welcomed and valued—there are currently two COTA openings available.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide occupational therapy services to students, generally in 1:1 sessions, based on each child’s individualized needs and service requirements
- Enjoy a set daily schedule (8:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 32.5 hours/week) with schedules managed by administration—your focus stays on therapy, not logistics
- Work with about 8–9 students per day, each seen 1–2 times per week
- Deliver therapy in dedicated OT treatment rooms; access a large gym and all needed equipment on site
- Collaborate with teachers, PTs, and other staff in a transdisciplinary, child-centered approach
- Utilize sensory processing principles to help students build skills for classroom and daily life
- Participate in morning and afternoon prep time for documentation, planning, and meetings
- Enter session notes and maintain documentation using provided laptops and electronic platforms
- Occasionally provide push-in services to promote skill generalization throughout the school environment
Who We’re Seeking:
- Licensed Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, eligible to practice in a school setting
- Experience with or passion for working with young autistic students
- Team-oriented mindset with strong collaborative skills
- Organizational skills to navigate a structured caseload
